　　新生儿窒息是指婴儿出生时，由于缺氧而致呼吸微弱或无呼吸，伴紫绀、心率减慢、神经反射差或消失等一系列症状，是围产期婴儿死亡原因之一。引起新生儿窒息的原因很多，包括出生前、出生时和出生后各种原因所引起的缺氧。根据窒息的程重，临床上将其分为轻度和重度两种，即紫绀和苍白两种。抢救一般是在医院进行，待好转后应做好预防感染，严密观察的后续处理，并注意保暖。
　　一般来说，胎儿和新生儿对缺氧的耐受力比成人强，如果是短时间缺氧而引起的轻度窒息，是不会留下后遗症的。如果持续时间较长，甚至达到半小时，乃至几小时之上，脑组织缺氧受损严重者，可产生程度不同程度的脑神经系统后遗症，如智力低下、癫痫、瘫痪、肢体强直及生长发育迟缓等。
